Naming System
Dragon names are simple enough, with a basic understanding of their structure. Basically, The family names are combined with their titles, an apostrophe represents a pause, which is only added for dragons of high ranks, and goes between the given name and the family name/title. The title always comes before the family name. The family name can be 1-3 letters, and is usually some play on the given names of two founders of a certain family, or the combined names of two merging families of dragons.
For example, if a dragon by the name of 'Sil'Mannora' were to marry into the family of a dragon called 'Fai Draja', there are big differences in their ranks and titles, as you can tell from their names. From the 'Sil' ' of Sil'Mannora's name, you can tell from the apostrophe that they are of a high status, but not a king or queen because they don't hold the family name of 'A'. You can also tell that they are of a high rank because of the 'S' in their name. Since it is not combined with the letter H or E, you can tell they are not a Healer or Warrior. From the 'I' in their name, you can tell they are of both genders, and the 'L' is their family name, which you can tell, since it wouldn't make sense for them to be in a position of power while unworking, which is what the letter 'I' means in the title.
As for Fai Draja, since they have no apostrophe in their name, you can tell they are not a high ranking dragon, unlike Sil'Mannora. Because of the 'F' in her name, you can tell that Fai Draja is a child dragon, and the 'A' means she is female. The 'I' in her name is both part of her status and family name, as it makes sense that she is unworking, since she is a child. When she grows, of course, it will be known that the 'I' in her name is simply a family name, rather than a title.
If Fai Draja and Sil'Mannora were to marry and combine their families, if their children didn't take on one of their names, to combine them, they would usually combine the family names and titles of the two parent dragons. In this case, that could be Li, Il, Si, Fl, or any other variation of their family names and titles.
The basic structure of titles consists of a small group of letters, which are added in the most important order. There can be from 1-3 title letters in the name to be combined with the family name, which totals up to a maximum of 6 letters. Outcasts and prisoners are given 1 extra letter or character each. If one becomes an outcast and then a prisoner, it is possible to have a total of 8 characters.
